How do I install under-cabinet lighting?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
You have three main options: plug-in strip lights (easiest), battery-powered puck lights (no wiring needed), and hardwired fixtures (most professional). For hardwired installation, run wire from an existing kitchen circuit to a switch, then to the underside of cabinets. Connect the fixture wires to the supply wires in a junction box. Plug-in and battery options are DIY-friendly and require no permits.
Why It Matters
Under-cabinet lighting improves kitchen functionality, reduces shadows while cooking, and adds a modern, polished look to your kitchen.
