How do I add under-cabinet LED lighting?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
LED under-cabinet lighting comes in three types: plug-in strip lights, battery-powered puck lights, and hardwired fixtures. Plug-in strips are the easiest DIY option: mount the strip under the cabinet and plug into a nearby outlet. Battery pucks need no wiring at all. For hardwired installation, run wire from an existing kitchen circuit to a switch, then to the cabinet location. LED tape lights can be cut to length and powered by a plug-in driver.
Why It Matters
Under-cabinet LED lighting eliminates shadows while cooking, improves kitchen functionality, and adds a modern, professional look with minimal energy use.
