How do I create a rain garden?

A rain garden is a shallow, planted depression that captures runoff from downspouts or driveways. Choose a location at least 10 feet from your foundation. Dig a basin 6 to 12 inches deep and plant with native water-tolerant species like swamp milkweed, blue flag iris, and cardinal flower. Use a mix of plants with different root depths for best absorption.
