What should I do if I smell gas in my home?

Leave the house immediately. Do not flip any switches, use your phone, light matches, or create any spark. Call 911 from outside your home as soon as you are at a safe distance. Then call your gas company. Do not re-enter your home until emergency personnel or the gas company says it is safe to return.
Why It Matters
A gas leak can cause an explosion with little warning. Immediate evacuation without creating sparks is the only safe response.
