What should I do if I have an electrical outage?

Check if the outage affects only your home or the neighborhood. If your home only, check your main breaker and reset any tripped breakers. If the whole neighborhood is out, report it to your utility company. Unplug sensitive electronics to protect them from power surges when the power returns. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to preserve food. Use flashlights, not candles, to prevent fire risks. Leave one light on so you know when power is restored.
