Look for droppings, gnaw marks, scratching sounds in walls, and greasy rub marks along baseboards. Set snap traps baited with peanut butter in areas where you have seen activity, placing them along walls where rodents travel. Seal all entry points larger than a quarter-inch with steel wool and caulk. Remove food sources by storing pantry items in metal or glass containers. If the infestation is large or persistent, call a licensed pest control professional who can assess the extent and provide exclusion services.
