How do I handle a roof leak during a storm?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Place buckets or containers under active drips to catch water and protect flooring. Move furniture and valuables away from the leak. If safe, poke a small hole in sagging ceiling drywall to let water drain into a bucket rather than pooling. Cover the roof area from outside if possible. Call a roofer after the storm passes.
Why It Matters
A small roof leak can turn into major water damage and ceiling collapse if not managed quickly during a storm.
