How do I handle a house fire?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Get everyone out immediately. Stay low to the ground to avoid smoke inhalation. Close doors behind you to slow the fire's spread. Call 911 once you are safely outside. Do not go back inside for any reason. Meet at your designated family meeting point. Have smoke alarms on every level of your home and test them monthly.
Why It Matters
Fire spreads faster than most people realize. You may have less than two minutes to escape. A practiced evacuation plan saves lives.
