This Weekend's Guide

Summer is in full swing across Burlington County, and this weekend is packed with great ways to get out and enjoy everything South Jersey has to offer. From free concerts under the stars to one of the region's most beloved annual fairs, there is something for every age and interest. Here is your HomeCircle guide to the best events happening August 1 and 2.

Burlington County Farm Fair

Now through July 25 (Saturday) at the Burlington County Fairgrounds, 1990 Jacksonville-Jobstown Road, Springfield Township.

The 80th anniversary of the Burlington County Farm Fair wraps up this Saturday. This is a family tradition that has been bringing the community together for eight decades. The fair features 4-H and FFA livestock shows, tractor pulls, a demolition derby, carnival rides, baking and home-arts competitions, live music, agricultural exhibits, and the Championship Rodeo. The fair closes Saturday evening with a fireworks show.

Admission is affordable, and parking is free. This is the kind of event that defines small-town South Jersey. Bring the whole family and enjoy a full day of classic fair fun. If you have never been, this 80th anniversary year is the one to attend.

Burlington County Summer Concert Series

Saturday, August 1, 7:00 PM at the Burlington County Amphitheater, 5 Pioneer Boulevard, Westampton.

The free Summer Concert Series continues with a double bill: Shake Rattle & Roll Pianos bring high-energy rock and roll piano showmanship, followed by Kathleen Elle. Pack a blanket or lawn chair, bring the family, and enjoy an evening of live music under the open sky. The amphitheater is a beautiful venue with plenty of space for everyone.

Also coming up: Mark your calendar for next weekend (August 7) when Boat House Row (yacht rock) and Chris Roselle take the stage, followed by Best of The Eagles tribute on August 8.

Burlington County Farmers Market

Every Saturday, 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Burlington County Agricultural Center, 500 Centerton Road, Moorestown.

Celebrating 20 years this season, the Burlington County Farmers Market is the place to stock up on locally grown produce, fresh-cut flowers, artisan breads, prepared foods, and handmade crafts. Saturday's market includes cooking demonstrations and live music. It is more than a market — it is a weekly community gathering.

Arrive early for the best selection of seasonal produce. Peaches, sweet corn, tomatoes, and blueberries are at their peak right now in South Jersey. The market runs through late November, so there is plenty of season left to become a regular.

More Weekend Ideas

If you are looking for additional ways to spend the weekend, consider a visit to one of Burlington County's parks. Smithville Park in Eastampton offers walking trails, historic buildings, and beautiful lake views. Rancocas State Park in Mount Holly has miles of hiking trails through woodlands and along the Rancocas Creek. Both are free and open dawn to dusk.

For a relaxing afternoon, explore downtown Moorestown or Medford Village. Both have charming main streets lined with independent shops, cafes, and restaurants with outdoor seating.
