When should I fertilize my lawn?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Fertilize cool-season grasses in early spring and again in fall. Warm-season grasses benefit from fertilization in late spring through summer. Apply a slow-release fertilizer and follow the product instructions carefully. Over-fertilizing can burn your lawn and contribute to water pollution. A soil test can tell you exactly what nutrients your lawn needs.
Why It Matters
Proper timing and type of fertilizer produces a thick, healthy lawn that crowds out weeds and resists pests and disease naturally.
