What should I do to prepare my home for fall?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Clean gutters thoroughly, service your heating system, seal drafts around windows and doors, winterize outdoor faucets and sprinklers, store patio furniture, check weatherstripping, test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and inspect your chimney. Fall is also a good time for lawn aeration and fertilization.
Why It Matters
Fall preparation directly prevents winter problems. This is your last chance to address issues before cold weather makes repairs more difficult.
