What should I do after a severe storm?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Check for visible damage from the ground, do not climb on the roof. Look for missing shingles, downed tree limbs, standing water near the foundation, and any broken windows. Document damage with photos. Contact your insurance company. Make temporary repairs to prevent further damage if safe to do so.
Why It Matters
Quick action after a storm can prevent secondary damage and improve your insurance claim outcome. Safety should always come first.
