What should I do after a heavy snowfall?

By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®

Clear snow from walkways, driveways, and steps to prevent slips and falls. Use a roof rake to remove snow from the bottom edge of your roof to prevent ice dams. Clear snow away from foundation walls, dryer vents, and furnace exhaust pipes. Check that your mailbox, fire hydrant, and storm drains are accessible. Shovel in layers if snow is deep.

Why It Matters

Heavy snow can damage your roof, block critical vents, and create dangerous conditions. Quick removal prevents property damage and keeps your family safe.
