How do I protect my garden from late spring frost?

Monitor weather forecasts closely in spring and be ready to cover tender plants with frost cloth, old sheets, or blankets when temperatures dip near freezing. Water soil thoroughly during the day, as moist soil retains heat. Bring potted plants indoors or into a garage. Use cloches or milk jugs with the bottoms cut off to protect individual plants.
