How do I prepare my home for a vacation?

Set your thermostat to an energy-saving temperature, typically 85 degrees in summer or 55 degrees in winter. Turn off the water supply to washing machines, dishwashers, and ice makers. Unplug electronics to prevent surge damage. Set timers on lights to simulate occupancy. Ask a neighbor to check your home and collect mail and packages.
