What is the deadline for property tax appeals in New Jersey?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
The standard deadline to file a property tax appeal in New Jersey is April 1 of the tax year. Some exceptions apply if your town conducted a municipal-wide reassessment or revaluation, in which case you have 45 days from the mailing date of your assessment notice. Appeals based on a county equalization table have different deadlines. Always confirm with your county tax board.
Why It Matters
Missing the deadline means waiting a full year to file again. Mark your calendar and gather evidence well before April 1.
