What is a tax freeze for seniors?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
New Jersey's Senior Freeze program, officially called the Property Tax Reimbursement Program, reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled residents for property tax increases above their base year. To qualify, you must be 65 or older or receiving Social Security disability, have lived in your home for at least 10 years, and meet income limits set annually.
Why It Matters
The Senior Freeze can provide substantial relief for seniors on fixed incomes, protecting them from annual property tax increases.
