The timeline for a property tax appeal in New Jersey depends on the county. Most appeals filed by the April 1 deadline are heard by the county Board of Taxation between April and June. You typically receive a decision within a few weeks after the hearing. If you appeal the county's decision to the state Tax Court, the process can take 12 to 18 months or longer.
