Why does my home feel drafty even with the heat on?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Drafts are usually caused by air leaks around windows, doors, electrical outlets, and baseboards. Poor attic insulation is another common culprit. Check for gaps in window frames, under doors, and where pipes enter the home. Weatherstripping, caulk, and spray foam can seal most leaks. Adding attic insulation to recommended R-values makes a dramatic difference in comfort and energy bills.
Why It Matters
Drafty homes lose heat quickly, forcing your furnace to work harder and driving up energy costs while keeping you uncomfortable.
