What size HVAC system do I need for my home?

HVAC size is measured in tons of capacity. A properly sized system depends on your home's square footage, insulation, window efficiency, and layout. A rule of thumb is about one ton per 500 to 600 square feet, but a professional should do a Manual J calculation for accurate sizing.
Why It Matters
An oversized system short-cycles and wastes energy. An undersized system runs constantly and cannot keep up. Proper sizing is essential for comfort and efficiency.
