What is a heat pump and is it right for my home?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
A heat pump provides both heating and cooling by transferring heat rather than generating it. In summer it pulls heat from inside your home. In winter it extracts heat from outdoor air. Heat pumps are highly efficient and work well in South Jersey's moderate climate. They cost more upfront but can lower energy bills compared to traditional systems. A dual fuel system pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace for the coldest days.
Why It Matters
Heat pumps offer year-round efficiency and can significantly reduce heating costs in moderate climates like South Jersey.
