How do I maintain my heat pump?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Change or clean air filters every 30 to 60 days. Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, grass, snow, and debris. Trim vegetation at least two feet from the unit. Schedule professional maintenance twice a year, once for heating mode in fall and once for cooling mode in spring. Check the backup heating system annually. Inspect the condensate drain for clogs. Keep the indoor air handler area clean and unobstructed.
Why It Matters
Regular heat pump maintenance ensures year-round efficiency, prevents breakdowns, and extends the life of your system.
