How do I maintain my boiler system?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Have your boiler serviced annually by a licensed professional. Check the pressure gauge to ensure it stays between 12 and 15 psi. Bleed radiators at the start of each heating season to release trapped air. Inspect for leaks around pipes and valves. Clean or replace filters on hydronic systems. Test the relief valve annually. Keep the area around the boiler clear of combustibles and ensure proper ventilation.
Why It Matters
Regular boiler maintenance improves efficiency, extends system lifespan, and prevents dangerous carbon monoxide leaks or pressure failures.
