How do I improve my home's indoor air quality?

By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®

Improving indoor air quality starts with changing HVAC filters regularly using MERV 8 or higher filters. Use exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens to remove moisture and pollutants. Vacuum with a HEPA filter vacuum, keep humidity between 30 and 50 percent, and consider adding an air purifier. Have your ductwork cleaned if it is dusty or moldy. Proper ventilation is key to keeping indoor air fresh and healthy year-round.

Why It Matters

Good indoor air quality reduces allergies, asthma triggers, and respiratory issues while creating a healthier, more comfortable home environment.
