When should I re-seal my deck?

By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®

Re-seal your deck every two to three years, or when water no longer beads on the surface. Test by sprinkling water: if it soaks in quickly, it is time to seal. Spring or fall with mild temperatures is ideal. Clean the deck thoroughly and let it dry before applying a quality sealant suited for your wood type.

Why It Matters

A properly sealed deck resists rot, warping, and UV damage, extending its lifespan by years.
