How often should I trim trees near my house?

Trim trees near your house at least once a year, preferably in late winter while trees are dormant. Remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches. Keep branches at least 10 feet away from your roof and 3 feet from your siding. Hire a certified arborist for large trees or those near power lines.

Why It Matters

Overhanging branches can damage your roof, siding, and gutters during storms and provide a path for pests into your home.
