How often should I clean my gutters?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Clean your gutters at least twice a year: once in late spring and once in late fall. Homes with overhanging trees may need quarterly cleanings. Clogged gutters overflow and can damage your roof, siding, foundation, and landscaping. Install gutter guards to reduce cleaning frequency but still inspect them regularly.
Why It Matters
Neglected gutters are a top cause of water damage. Regular cleaning protects your home's structure and foundation.
