How do I maintain my roof?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Inspect your roof twice a year from the ground with binoculars. Look for missing, cracked, or curling shingles, damaged flashing around chimneys and vents, and signs of moss or algae. Trim overhanging branches. Clean gutters regularly. Have a professional roofer inspect your roof every 3 to 5 years.
Why It Matters
Your roof is your home's most important protective layer. Regular maintenance catches small problems before they become leaks that cause interior damage.
