How do I maintain my rain gutters?
By Bob Millaway, South Jersey Community Expert & REALTOR®
Clean gutters at least twice a year, in spring and fall. Remove leaves, twigs, and debris by hand or with a gutter scoop, then flush with a garden hose. Check downspouts for clogs. Inspect gutter hangers and seal any leaks. Consider gutter guards if you have many overhanging trees.
Why It Matters
Clogged gutters cause water to overflow and damage your roof, siding, foundation, and landscaping. Regular cleaning prevents costly structural repairs.
