How do I shut off my main water valve?

The main shutoff valve is typically located near your water meter, usually in the basement, crawl space, garage, or outside near the foundation. It is usually a round wheel handle or a straight lever handle. Turn clockwise to shut off. Make sure everyone in your household knows where it is.
