Consider upgrading if your current system is over 15 years old, needs frequent repairs, or your energy bills are rising. High-efficiency systems with SEER2 ratings of 18 or higher and AFUE ratings of 95 percent or higher can cut heating and cooling costs by 20 to 40 percent. Heat pumps are especially efficient for South Jersey's climate and qualify for federal tax credits.
